Helping young lives find happiness
Destiny has its own way of indicating what lies in store for each of us. Of what awaits us round the corner. To two little girls in Andhra Pradesh, a chance meeting with a person they fondly refer to as thatha garu (grandfather) changed their lives forever.
Lingamma and Nagamma are sisters who found themselves orphaned on the streets of Andhra Pradesh, with just each other for company. Having no one to take care of them, the duo resorted to seeking alms around the Nagalotti Darga. The hardships they faced were numerous - the only way they could get food for the day was by begging. That was when they met Sri Bhaskar Babu Garu, the man they call thatha garu.
He brought them under the protective shelter of AIM for Seva. The sisters soon became a part of the Nandyal Chatralaya. At the chatralaya, they received boarding, lodging and all basic amenities - most importantly, they found happiness. In their own words, they got everything they could ask for, and had as much as the children of the landlord of their village!
Today, incidents of their begging at the Nagalotti Darga remains a distant past - one that they do not wish to be associated with. This is one of the many instances where AIM for Seva has nurtured and saved young lives from the clutches of poverty in rural Andhra Pradesh. Such instances have also inspired many to join hands with AIM for Seva and contribute to a good cause.
