Our mission has been educating rural India and we have been on this path for the last 18 years. Today, we have 97 Chatralayams across 16 states.
Over the years, as our engagement with the community has deepened, we have embarked into other projects such as healthcare centres, educational institutions, vocational training units and
sustainable living endeavours.
In Uttarakhand, we have 3 hostels in Karnaprayag (Boys), Srinagar (Boys) and Dehradun (Girls). We have 78 hostelers in Uttarakhand of which 20 are girls. Our Chatralayams advocate value-based education and the environment provides young children in the age group of 6 to 18 after school education support, nutritious food and extracurricular activities such as yoga and music.
In addition to Chatralayams, we run 3 sewing centres in Dehradun that provide vocational training to women in the region. The certified tailoring course is of one year duration and classes are held every day, baring Sundays.
At this year’s convocation which was held recently, all the students were gifted with a sewing machine by our Chairperson and Managing Trustee, Smt. Sheela Balaji who had personally visited the centre at Unnao for the convocation.
Tailoring as a vocation provides a regular stream of income for women working from home and also enables a better status for them.
If you are in Uttarakhand, help us spread the word so that together we can encourage more women to stand up as economic independent individuals of future India.
