Shanmuga Society for Special Children
A School for Children with Learning Disability

Key Highlights
Managed by AIM for Seva
Learning opportunities for 11 children, 4-15 years of age
Taught by a professional team, including a physiotherapist,
a speech therapist and special educator

For over five years now, a little group of special children in Hyderabad are able to relate to normal life. Like other children of their age, they experience school and classrooms. They are introduced to the exciting world of colours, numbers and images. They have skilled professionals who devote their time in imparting varied skills to them.

Shanmuga Society for Special Children has made it possible for this group of eleven children, between the age groups of 4-15 years. Currently managed by AIM for Seva, Shanmuga Society functions like a daytime school where the children get to go back home to their parents in the evening. But during the time
that they spend in school, they are taught a world of things - from regular activities like brushing, toileting, bathing, eating and grooming to special academic skills that are taught through interesting devices like picture cards, word-image association, and other skills that would make them more independent.

A professional team of four, including a physiotherapist, a speech therapist and special educator, teach these special children, preparing them for the world outside.
