Summer Camp held for students of Indore and Dhar Student Homes

The children of Indore and Dhar took part in the various activities conducted at the summer camp between April 14th and 20th 2009 at Indore student home.About 80 children actively took part in the camp.

The camp was organised by Swami Aishwaryanandaji and Shri Jumboo Bhandari.

The camp was inaugurated on 14th April morning ,when Swami Aishwaryanandaji briefed the participants on the schedule planned for the 6 days.

The afternoon session, a talk by Shri Vikas Dube,Chief Editor Devputra Magazine, on compassion towards others.

The children were thrilled to see a live demonstration of aircrafts performing acrobatics in air. Thanks to Shri Aniruddha Kasliwal of the Aeromodelling Club,Indore & his colleagues .The children were really excited , as it was the first time in their lives their were seeing the aircrafts at close quarters.
During the question hour session , the children had all their questions answered by the club members in a very simple way.

They were taken to the Usha Raje Cricket Stadium,Indore, by Shri Amay Khurasia, an international cricket player.They witnessed the state level matches that was in progress at the stadium. Seeing the enthusiasm of the children, Shri Amay Khurasia agreed to coach them on a regular basis in the next academic year.

A session on photography as a hobby by Shri Pravin Rawat,Award winner of Society of Royal Photographic Society,UK, was coducted on the 16th of April .
The demonstration as how to take photographs with a camera, kept the children spell bound. Even more excited were the children on seeing pictures of their village.

In the afternoon they attend a talk by SWAMI PARMANANDAJI TIRTH MAHARAJ, on the need for leading a value based life.

On the 17th morning , IIndustrilist Shri O.P. GOELspoke on water conservation,. He requested the children to take it as a project in the holidays on the methods of water conservation practised in their villages and share their views with the villagers.

In the afternoon the children saw a movie on Chatrapati Shivaji and also learnt bhajans from Miss Shivani Dhighe a very well known classical singer.

Next session was a talk by the young industrialist Shri Mehta on discipline in life.

The next day was a D day for the children. They were all given a joy ride in the aircraft at YASH AIR,UJJAIN, by Shri Bharat Tongia & his son Yashraj. The boys were thrilled to know the course to qualify to be a pilot is offered free by the Government satisfying certain norms.

The students also visited the press where a leading national daily is printed.

In addition to these activities the regular schedule of yoga, meditation , etc. , was followed.

Such camps build up their self confidence, exposure to other activities and a great learning experience. Some programme kindled their curiosity and some inspired them to pursue that profession later.
