Project Details & Achievements
- Manjakkudi is the town where Swami Dayananda Saraswati, was born. Swamiji, attended the Manjakkudi elementary school.
- The Manjakkudi Student Home has children from the Tsunami affected families in Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur and Thiruvarur District.
- The student home is part of the Swami Dayananda Higher Secondary School Campus which also has an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) and Swami Dayananda College of Arts and Science. Being a part of this campus is a great source of encouragement to the students as they are exposed to more options such as pursuing their studies up to college level or taking up a vocational training course.
- At the student home, in addition to providing basic needs (free food, clothing and medicines), daily tuition in various subjects along with extracurricular activities such as yoga, meditation, training in dance, music and theatre is provided. The children are also constantly taken on educational trips to places like Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Kumbakonam.
- A student of the Manjakkudi student home was chosen for special coaching in athletics at the district level
