‘Meera-The Soul Divine’, is AIM for Seva’s fundraiser event of 2016, and is currently on a 17-city tour of the USA, after performances in Chennai and London. The enchanting story of Meerabai–the princess who renounced the world in search of Lord Krishna, and was one of the greatest saint poetesses of India–is depicted in this dance & musical production.
Ideated and executed by Padmashri awardee and legendary dancer, teacher and choreographer, Chitra Visweswaran and her team from the Chidambaram Dance Company, with music composed by Smt. Bombay Jayashri, featuring traditional bhajans, ‘Meera-The Soul Divine’ is capturing the hearts and minds of audiences everywhere. Beautifully choreographed, the programme transports audiences to the backyards of Mewar and Chittorgarh from a bygone era. Being acclaimed by reviews and audiences, with special mention of the 6-year-old dancer who plays young Meera, the dance-drama is achieving a two-fold outcome–mesmerizing people and supporting a wonderful cause–enabling the children of rural India to receive quality education and a value-based discipline and practice as well as life skills, crucial in today’s times, through AIM for Seva’s initiatives.
