AIM for SEVA Australia was formally inaugurated at a Gala function, called Kshetram, on Sat 14th May, 2011 at Sydney. This was attended by 700 audience thronged at the Swish auditorium of Pymble Ladies College.
Inuagurating the event, Sri Vasudevacharya, the resident Vedanta scholar/teacher and disciple of Swamiji, spoke about the life and achievements of Swamiji while his images were projected on a massive screen, which made a great impact on everyone present. He spoke about AIM for SEVA and the difference it had made to the life of the disadvantaged children of rural and remote India.
Sri Murali Dharan, the convener of AIM for SEVA Australia, displayed a video on AIM for SEVA highlighting its projects and future plans. Sri. Vasudevacharya then handed the Articles of Constitution to Sri Murali, thus formally launching AIM for Seva, Australian chapter, with blessings from Swamiji.
The disciples of Swamiji Dayananda Saraswati, at Sydney celebrated 80th birthday of Swamiji with a stunning dance performance by the artists of Rasika Dance Academy, lead by dancer Manjula Viswanath.
The dance ballet depicted the travel of two Aussie kids to their grandmother in India, who takes them through various kshetrams (holy places) in India, explaining about the places through Bharatanatyam sequences.
The gala event Kshetram was organized by the dynamic husband & wife team of Murali & Sudha as an AIM for SEVA fund-rising event, with many more innovative programs in the offing to involve and engage the Australian and NRI communities in seva activities. Already, plans are underway for sister-school exchanges between an Australian primary school (K-12) and a rural school in India, enabling children to share between continents.
Australia has been one of the earliest supporters of AIM for SEVA with the Chatralaya at Manjakkudi, Tamil Nadu, funded by ‘Friends of Australia’.
With formal registration, AIM for SEVA, Australia joins the global SEVA network.
Best wishes for AIM for Seva, Australia..
