We are pleased to announce that the Khilanani AIM for Seva Eye hospital located in the Mathura-Agra Road, Aurangabad district, Mathura is in the process of upgrading its facilities.
The centre performs 160 surgeries every year. Of this, 126 are for cataract. The Khilanani AIM for Seva Eye Hospital was started on November 1st 2007 and thanks to the generosity and continued support of Dr. Prem Khilanani from USA (who donated the land and building for the premises), we have been able to provide ophthalmic care to people living in rural India. The hospital is spread over 9,000 square feet.
The main treatments offered include eye check-up and spectacles, cataract operation, anterior segment treatment and surgeries. With many patients being farmers and daily wage labourers, the hospital follows a subsidisation basis when it comes to fee payment.
While charges for cataract operations including overheads come up to Rs 3,500 per person, the hospital charges anywhere between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000, depending on the patient’s financial capability. Ten operations are done free of cost. Only 20% of our total costs including overheads are met through fees from patients, 80% of it is subsidised.
The medical centre services a 35 km radius that includes Mathura, Gokul, Govardhan, Auranagabad and Tantura. As these regions are prone to dusty winds especially during summer, many people suffer from eye ailments due to the hot and dusty climate. The average walk-ins per day stands at 40.
